Developed by Andrew Moffat MBE, No Outsiders is a highly acclaimed, child-friendly program with a beautifully simple core message: All different, all welcome.
Its goal is to teach children to recognise, accept, and celebrate the diversity in our world, ensuring that no child ever feels left out or like an ‘outsider’. You can read more about the initiative, its ethos, and its impact on the official website: no-outsiders.com.
This initiative integrates perfectly with our own school values. By teaching our children to appreciate what makes each of us unique, we are helping them live out these values every day.
Furthermore, No Outsiders is rooted in the Equality Act 2010 and directly supports our duty to promote fundamental British Values. Through these assemblies, children will learn about:
Mutual Respect and Tolerance: Learning to respect different cultures, faiths, families, and beliefs.
The Rule of Law: Understanding that everyone is protected equally under the law.
Individual Liberty: Celebrating our freedom to be ourselves while showing kindness to others.
The magic of No Outsiders lies in how it is taught. The assemblies and class discussions are based around beautiful, high-quality picture books. Each story is age-appropriate and carefully chosen to spark gentle, positive discussions around different themes such as disability, family structures, gender, race, and religion.
These books act as a wonderful window into the wider world, helping children develop genuine empathy and the language they need to stand up against prejudice.
