Welcome to the Camestone School PSHE page. Here you will find information about Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education at Camestone, detailing the content taught in each year group and the progression of personal understanding throughout a child’s time with us. We follow the Kapow scheme of work and build upon key knowledge of health, emotional wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world.
Children have the opportunity to develop their social and emotional skills year on year, learning how to navigate relationships, manage feelings and make healthy choices. This is further enriched through mindfulness workshops, visitor talks from health professionals and peer mentoring, which enhance our core curriculum offer. Families are supported with guidance on discussing sensitive topics and building resilience at home.
Every child at Camestone participates in circle time and reflective discussions throughout the year, giving them the invaluable experience of expressing their thoughts in a safe and supportive environment. We also take part in whole-school initiatives, such as Anti-Bullying Week and Mental Health Awareness Week, reinforcing our caring school ethos.
PSHE is the study of personal development, social responsibility, physical and emotional wellbeing, and financial capability, preparing children for life and work in a changing world.
To nurture wellbeing — understanding how to care for physical health, mental wellbeing and personal safety.
To build relationships — appreciating how to form healthy, respectful friendships and communicate empathy.
To value diversity — recognizing and respecting individual differences, rights and global communities.
To navigate society — identifying how money works, how choices impact others and how to stay safe online and offline.
Each year, children become more skilled in these key concepts, building upon their prior knowledge and deepening their understanding. Our intention is that by the time they leave us in Year 6, pupils will:
Demonstrate resilience, emotional awareness and healthy coping strategies for mental and physical health.
Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with peers and adults, understanding boundaries and consent.
Show empathy, respect and tolerance toward people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and beliefs.
Make informed choices regarding personal safety, digital footprint, economic wellbeing and future aspirations.
